How Many Monarchs? Analyzing Data from Journey North

    1. In what year were the most monarchs recorded? What is the reason you think these numbers are so high?
    2. In what year were the least monarchs recorded? What do you think could have happened to make these numbers so low?
    3. Scientists look for trends. (A trend is a general direction in which something is moving.) What trends do you see in the data?

More questions will be coming, so make sure to keep visiting our blog!

    1. In 1996-1997 the most monarchs were recorded because their was more milkweed and more caterpillars and more monarch butterflies.

2.In the year 2004-2005 there were the least monarchs. I think the numbers is so low because there wasnt enough food or trees for the monarchs.

    3. We think the trend will increase more this year.

    1. The most Monarchs were recorded in 1996-1997.We think this because there was good weather.
2.The least amount of Monarchs were recorded in 2004-2005.We think this because maybe there was more pollution.
3.The trend is counting by 5’s because from 0 to 5 that is adding 5 to 0.

    1. It was probly the most in 1996-1997 because it was probly because it was back then and it could have been less polution and better climate.

    2. In 2004-2005 It was the least, maybe because it changed really fast or maybe because polution or globel warning.

    3. The trend is decreasing.

    1. The year that the most monarchs were recorded was in 1996-97. The migration is the reason why the population is so high.

    2. The year that the least monarchs were recorded was 2004-05. The monarch population was low because the monarchs were leaving mexico and dying.

    3. The trend I see in this graph is increasing and then it is decreasing.

Ms. Lenahan,in year 1996-1997 the most monarchs were recorded. I think these numbers are so high because that’s when most of them were born in early September and lived longer. In 2004-2005 the least monarchs were recorded. this may of happend because the inviornment has been changing. In the begining, the trend was increasing and then decreasing. It was kind of like a pattern. Those are all of my answers. I can’t wait until you post more. You’re student, A.S.W.
