Tagged Monarch on Ventnor Beach

This monarch was tagged on October 10th, 2008 and released at the end of Troy Avenue in Ventnor. It was a gorgeous day, clear skies and just a light wind. This monarch was very happy to nectar on beach goldenrod. Can you tell if the monarch is a male or a female? How do you know? Click on the picture to see a larger image!

ASW–I took the photo of the monarch on the beach. I am glad you like it! This was one of the very last monarchs we tagged. I took it and released it at the end of my street in Ventnor. He really stayed for quite a while and enjoyed the goldenrod nectar! So glad you like it. I will tell John that you thought he took it. He really is a much better photographer than I!
